Operations Engineer
Chosen as part of a team to support the Lexis - Nexis information service,
presently maintaining 99% on-line availability.
· Monitor LAN/WAN comprised of Unix servers and Window NT workstations
using HP Openview.
· Provide assistance for team of developers in software hirls.
· Timely monitoring of the Operations Planning and Control automated
batch scheduler.
· Perform preliminary checks on thirteen production and five test MVS
images, to identify problems and assist in resolution.
· Implement system changes during weekly downtime window.
· Interact closely with vendors of hardware and software to resolve
and document critical problems.
FIDELITY INVESTMENTS, Covington, Ky. 12/93 - 5/96
Laser Print Shift Lead
Joined as part of start-up crew for Fidelity’s centralized National
Print and Mail division in Covington, KY. Started as a laser print operator
and progressed to a shift lead.
· Coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the laser print
department.
· Attend meetings and provide statistics of daily print volumes and
printer downtime.
· Interact closely with Siemens, IBM and Fujitsu vendors to ensure
that preventative maintenance is performed on all equipment.
· Maintain supplies and deal with vendor quality issues.
· Part of a team chosen to perform user acceptance testing of Open
Print Server, prior to its use in production.
MEAD DATA CENTRAL, Dayton, Ohio 1988 - 1993
Sr. Computer Operator
Developed a working knowledge of the Data Center Operations facility including
the software/hardware complexities, automated operations tools and Unix/Server
environment.
· Organized and maintained a tape library with a capacity of 130,000
tapes and cartridges.
· Monitored seven production and three test MVS images.
· Provided coverage in all areas of the data center, mounting tapes
and cartridges, operating laser printers and tape librarian duties.
